About: Two Wounded Birds

Two Wounded Birds were an English rock and roll band, formed in Margate, Kent, in 2010. The band consisted of Johnny Danger (vocals, guitar), Ally Blackgrove (bass), Joe Stevens (guitar) and James Shand (drums). The band's sound had been compared to The Tornado's, The Beach Boys, The Velvet Underground, Link Wray, and Phil Spector. The band had also been compared to The Drums, who discovered Two Wounded Birds in 2010, before taking them on their first European tour

In January 2011, Two Wounded Birds released the EP Keep Dreaming Baby. Three songs from the EP, Night Patrol, My Lonesome and Summer Dream were performed at BBC's Maida Vale Studios as part of a BBC Introducing Session for BBC Radio 1. The EP was followed by two further singles in, All We Wanna Do and Together Forever, which were released by Moshi Moshi Recordings. All We Wanna Do was chosen as Radio 1's Tip of the Week in August 2011.

At Glastonbury 2011, the band played Glastonbury's BBC Introducing Stage.

On 6 November 2012, Two Wounded Birds announced via their Facebook and Twitter page that they had disbanded.

Since childhood she could always be found singing, playing the piano and dancing around the house making up little songs & routines with her brothers. She plays piano, guitar & laptop to create her own music, which takes on several different forms. The Surya Sound is a live and recorded meditative experience that feature chants and prayers in both Sanskrit and Tibetan. She has studied the Yoga of Voice with Sheinagh Saraswati Anderson and Indian Classical Music with Neeraja Aptikar & Aparna Gurav in Pune, India. She was selected in 2009 by multi platinum, Grammy award winning musician Wyclef Jean to come to New York City and participate in his More Bottles sessions.

In June 2010 she released a cd called "Songs of the Buddha" which is a collection of Tibetan prayers and poems. She is donating all the proceeds from the sale of this recording to assist with Earthquake relief in Tibet.

Her next album, a collection of Sanskrit mantras titled "Rise" is nearing completion and will be out in 2011. An EP of her English songs will also be released in 2011. Stay tuned. Peace*

BIO: Bipolar Rats

Our genre varies! We like to paint ourselves with the Alternative brush as our common influences stem from the punk/indie/rock genres. We have a combination of hard hitting, gut wrenching punk tracks mixed in with the more introspective acoustic and melodic tracks.

'BiPoLar Rats?' was formed in Cape Town on the 15 December 2009. Andrew and Allan after an impromptu jam session, if you could call it that given our elementary knowledge of the guitar, got together to learn to play, write and record our brand of music. Candice was hauled in (kicking, biting and scratching) to perform bass duties.

9 months later, what seemed like a million hours of practicing scales and chords, and lots of heated discussions about song choice, we recorded 'fateful coincidence'. Produced on a very tight budget and 5 sunday afternoons in a back room, 'fateful coincidence' is the culmination of the union.

Allan has spent most of 2011 in the UK so logistically getting the band together has not happened. We have been writing a host of new songs and are looking to release them in December 2011. This will coincide with us moving from the garage to the stage.

About: Healthy Junkies

Parisian Lead singer Nina Courson met British guitarist Phil Honey-Jones in 2009 in the venue Punk in Soho, both of them were in separate bands at the time. They wrote their first song as a birthday present for a mutual friend and it felt good, in fact it felt right. The song is entitled Glam Sister and is on the album and one of the most popular songs in the live set. From then on more songs came thick and fast, the shared influences of the likes of Iggy Pop, Nirvana, Blondie, Killing Joke and Sonic Youth have played a big part in the direction of the group, inspiration has come from far and wide and lyrically the lines between autobiographical and fiction are blurred and merged. I suppose if there was a specific aim it would be to capture and bottle the essence of certain music from the past and release it kicking and screaming into the now.
Phil and Nina were soon joined by Steve Nightmare on drums and Tjay Tarantino(Blood Island Raiders/Dusteroid) on Bass guitar. They played their first gig together at an all day punk festival in Brighton in September 2010. Since then the band have played many gigs, all over the U.K. including a support slot to the legendary Walter Lure of the Heartbreakers in November. Earlier in the summer of 2011 the band went on a short tour to France and are heading back there in April 2012. So it’s onward and upwards with the live shows getting better and better. On stage lead singer Nina Courson interacts with the other band members and entices her audience in the theatre that has become the trademark of their live shows.

About: The Rudeness

The Rudeness was originally conceived while the band toured the Mid-West on Warped Tour a few years back.

At the time, The Rudeness were a full on Pop/Punk band called M-80. That band accomplished plenty, including national touring, national distribution, national publishing deals and a huge fan base, all of which were gained as an independent artist. Their releases “Put Down The BB Gun” and “Don’t Take It Away” are still available.

The boys were feeling tired of playing Pop/Punk and looking to get back to their musical roots. Having all come from the coastal region of Rhode Island, Reggae and Ska are a huge influence on their musical taste.

Rhode Island has a little known hot spot where surfers go to listen to Reggae and Ska music. It's a bar called the Ocean Mist and it sits right on the Atlantic Ocean. There is a point break just beyond the back deck of the bar. You’d think you were in Hawaii if you stumbled in there and you might see the likes of Eek-A-Mouse, Buju Banton or Sizzla performing on any given night. That club holds the sound and the true spirit of what The Rudeness are about.

About: Patrick Sweany

Patrick Sweany likes the spaces in between.

On a given night (or on a given album) he'll swing through blues, folk, soul, bluegrass, maybe some classic 50s rock, or a punk speedball. He's a musical omnivore, devouring every popular music sound of the last 70 years, and mixing 'em all together seamlessly into his own stew. Yet, the one thing that most people notice about Patrick isn't his ability to copy - it's his authenticity. Like his heroes, folks like Bobby "Blue" Bland, Eddie Hinton, Doug Sahm, Ray Charles, Patrick somehow manages to blend all of these influences into something all his own.

It's no wonder that as a kid he immersed himself in his dad's extensive record collection: 60s folk, vintage country, soul, and, of course, blues. Patrick spent hours teaching himself to fingerpick along to Leadbelly, Lightnin' Hopkins, and other folk-blues giants.

In his late teens, Patrick began playing the clubs and coffeehouses around Kent, OH. He quickly gained a reputation for the intricate country blues style he was developing: part Piedmont picking, part Delta slide - with an equally impressive deep, smooth vocal style.

It wasn't long before Pat drew the attention of other notables like Jimmy Thackery who was impressed enough to bring Pat on the road, and Roy Book Binder, who, after hearing Patrick's self-released debut CD I Wanna Tell You, arranged his first appearance at Merlefest in 2002. Book Binder also turned his longtime friend Jorma Kaukonen on to Patrick's music, landing Pat a perennial slot at the legendary Fur Peace Ranch alongside guitarists like GE Smith, Marjorie Thompson, Bill Kirchen and Bob Margolin.

But Pat wouldn't stay in the acoustic world for long. His love of 50s era soul and rock fused with the adrenaline-soaked garage punk revival happening throughout the Rust Belt pushed Pat to form a band.

After 3 critically acclaimed CDs (the last two produced by longtime collaborator Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys), Patrick has expanded his touring radius to 49 states and the UK. He's played premiere festivals all over the U.S., and supported national acts such as The Black Keys, The Gourds, The Wood Brothers, Sonny Landreth, Hot Tuna, and Paul Thorn on tour.

His latest record, That Old Southern Drag, hits the streets February 15, 2011. It was recorded to 2" tape in Nasheville, TN (Patrick's new home) and features contributions from Joe McMahan (Allsion Moorer, Webb Wilder, Mike Farris), Scott McEwan (Tarbox Ramblers), Tim Marks (Will Kimbrough, Taylor Swift), and Chris West (The Dynamites), among others. Southern Drag expands Patrick's roots music palette without losing his signature Deep Blues sound.

About: Paul Collins Beat

The Beat was founded by Paul Collins, who spent his pre-teens living in Greece, Vietnam and Europe before returning to his native New York. He studied at the prestigious Julliard Music School and eventually moved to San Francisco where he joined songwriter Jack Lee and bassist Peter Case to form The Nerves in 1974. The Nerves proved to be one of the pioneers of the burgeoning US punk rock scene, independently releasing their own 4 song EP which included the classic “Hanging on the Telephone,” later to become a hit for Blondie.

After The Nerves disbanded in 1977, Collins moved to LA and formed The Beat with bassist Steve Huff, drummer Mike Ruiz and lead guitarist Larry Whitman. Their friend Eddie Money recommended The Beat for management by legendary concert promoter Bill Graham. Under new management, The Beat toured with The Police, The Jam and Joe Jackson. They also made numerous TV appearances and recorded their debut self-titled album with producer Bruce Botnick (who had produced The Doors). The album featured Beatles and Byrds-influenced guitars and catchy choruses, defining the skinny-tied power pop which The Knack took to the charts. BIO: Paul Collins Beat

Rock icon and cult favorite Paul Collins got his start with Peter Case and Jack Lee in 1974. Their band The Nerves toured with The Ramones and recorded a song called “Hanging On The Telephone.” The song would later become a hit when covered by Deborah Harry and Blondie on the Parallel Lines album.

Paul Collins formed The Beat in 1979, recruiting members of various rock bands including Steven Huff, Larry Whitman and Michael Ruiz. The result was The Beat, a high energy rock group in the style of The Ramones, Blondie and The Dictators. As the story goes, Collins was awarded a record deal with CBS thanks to his friend Eddie Money and Bill Graham Management. The Beat toured extensively with top acts like The Jam, Pere Ubu, The Police, Eddie Money, The Plimsouls and Huey Lewis. The Beat became Paul Collins’ Beat when a ska band from UK began using The Beat as their moniker.

Paul Collins’ Beat continued to tour and record albums throughout the ’80s, with The Kids Are The Same, Beat Or Not To Beat, Long Time Gone, Live At Universal and their final album One Night, released in 1989. Paul Collins set out on a solo career, recording the self-titled Paul Collins album in 1992. This country/rock album included special guests such as Greg Kihn, Cyril Jordan (from Flamin Groovies), Jeff Trott (Sheryl Crow), Chuck Prophet, Dave Immergluck (Counting Crows) and key members of Chris Isaak’s band.

1993 brought the sophomore release by Paul Collins Band, entitled From Town To Town. The album was recorded with Arty Lenin of The Flashcubes, Rick Wagner and Will Rigby of The db’s and Billy Fica of Television. This album was released by Caroline Records and featured a country rock sound similar to The Byrds.

After a ten year hiatus The Paul Collins’ Beat resurfaced and released a string of new records. Flying High 2004, Ribbon of Gold 2007 and the latest King of Power Pop recorded with the legendary Jim Diamond in Detroit. Considered to be his best to date, the album gets back to the classic sound of The Beat, while combining the raw energy of Collins’ solo works.

With the release of King of Power Pop, Paul set up The Beat Army an online Facebook community of people connected by their love of power pop, melodic guitar driven rock n roll. Stampede Queen’s debut video, “Never Turn Your Back on Rock and Roll”, produced by Toronto Film Companies Maverick Films and 48 Media, has enjoyed much success in both Canada and the U.S., having been played on Canada’s Much Music, as well as seeing regular rotation on Rock Nation TV. In addition to also being featured on the Hollywood Hairspray DVD, the video was voted as the #1 Canadian Rock Video by Rock Nation listeners.

After some line-up changes within the band over the last couple of years, singer and founding member Zack Danielshas amassed what’s now being called the most “lethal lineup” of Stampede Queen to date. With the recent acquisition of guitarist Andrew West, along with the thundering rhythm section of bass player Vic Vegas, Nico Amoroso on Percussion and long time drummer Richie Lee Derksen, who also shares a lot of the vocal duties as well. The band is poised to bring the raw energy and “blow your hair back” power and style of their often sold out shows to the die-hard fans around the world.

While continuing to perform and tour this Spring and Summer, the band is also in the studio putting the final touches on two new singles being released in advance of their new full length record, scheduled for release in the fall.

BIO: The Inflictors

The Inflictors are fronted by psychedelic folk bluesman Cameron O'Hagan. For the last eighteen months Cameron has been building up a steady following with his solo shows. He's now decided its time to go full on electric and added a bassist, drummer and rhythm guitarist (who recently blew the doors off the King's Arms).
