Magazine Gap

About: Magazine Gap

In the final analysis, people will always love real music of the highest quality - passionately created, beautifully crafted, carefully constructed, artfully produced and powerfully performed. Magazine Gap are one of the most musically intoxicating bands emerging on the scene today.

There is nothing artificial about this eclectic pop/rock band, and yet its make-up is so unlikely. How in London, a city of 12 million people, does a folk-rock singer-songwriter earning his spurs on the acoustic circuit meet and musically connect with a leading R&B/Hip-Hop session drummer and producer with several international tours under his belt, and a classically trained concert pianist and jazz maestro? Certainly a cosmopolitan city is the best breeding ground for musical innovation and London is a world-leader, but mainly it is due to the highly accomplished and creative members of Magazine Gap.

Magazine Gap's strong appeal is a testament to how the band combined their musical strengths and pooled their myriad of influences and experiences to create a fresh, distinct sound that appeals to the broadest demographic. The name of the band comes from a famous stretch of road in Hong Kong, where two of the band members grew up; it runs from the Mid-Levels to the Peak, and serves as metaphor for the band's journey as they embrace both the old school method of taking their music on the road and new school as they reach fans along the online highway. Analytics show their fanbase is equally divided between men and women.

Magazine Gap have physically travelled over 50,000 miles through touring around the world. Dates include 14 major cities in the UK & Ireland, the four largest cities in the United States (New York, Chicago, Houston & Los Angeles), three of the largest cities in Japan (Tokyo, Osaka & Nagoya), two of the most significant metropolises in the South-East Asia (Hong Kong & Singapore), and a 90 minute evening concert on the main outdoor stage at the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival.

Their live shows have garnered huge acclaim for their powerful performances and high level of musicianship. At every stop, the band has connected with local audiences, be it: New York City, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, Los Angeles, Cape May, London, Birmingham, Oxford, Cambridge, Norwich, Milton Keynes, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Bedford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Dublin, Montreux, Singapore, Hong Kong, Osaka, Nagoya or Tokyo.

Their music has reached hundreds of thousands more in all corners of the globe through extensive social networking, and found an audience of real music lovers everywhere. BBC Radio has also embraced the band and has featured Magazine Gap on several radio shows with live performances and interviews. Their song "What's Next?" was Record Of The Week on the eclectic music station JazzFM in June 2012. Each new video on their popular YouTube channel, which has had over 800,000 views, instantly becomes one of the most discussed of all UK based musicians.

This creativity and fusion of styles is evident on the band's Silver Lining EP. The six songs featured are a snapshot of Magazine Gap's versatility and quality of musicianship. In keeping with that authenticity, the band worked in some of the top recording studios in the world including Capitol Studios (Hollywood), Firehouse Recording Studios (Pasadena), Avatar Studios (New York), CRC Studios (Chicago), Piety Street Recording (New Orleans), Metropolis and Abbey Road Studios (London). All songs were written by James Keen (except Silver Lining – lyrics by James Keen; music by Keen & Brian McCook). The Silver Lining EP was produced by Brian McCook and mixed by Brian Moore. The EP is available on iTunes and all digital platforms worldwide.

Magazine Gap is a band whose time has come.

Plumb

About: Plumb

Tiffany Arbuckle Lee (born March 9, 1975) is a Contemporary Christian singer-songwriter who uses the stage name “Plumb”. She has performed several different genres of music, including Alternative Rock and Christian Alternative rock and a few of her remixes have appeared on dance charts. She is known for her pensive lyrics and soprano voice.

1997 – 2000 (Band Years)

In 1997, Plumb released her self-titled debut album “Plumb”. In 1999, she released her second studio album “candycoatedwaterdrops”, which won the 2000 Gospel Music Association Dove Award for "Modern Rock Album of the Year". Two tracks from it were later covered by other artists; "Stranded" by Jennifer Paige and, in 2003, "Damaged" by Plummet.

Plumb was marketed as a band during the first three album releases on Essential Records. The band was named after the Suzanne Vega song "My Favorite Plum”.

2000 – Present (Solo Career)

Plumb wanted to leave the music industry after the 2000 album. Lee received a note from a girl a few hours before what she thought to be her final concert. The letter was about the Plumb song "Damaged" that Arbuckle Lee had written and recorded about a girl coping with being molested as a child. The note said "Whatever you do, I just want you to never forget that you have changed someone's life." The note inspired Arbuckle Lee to remain in the music industry.

In order to leave Essential Records, Plumb had to fulfill her contract obligations, and this led to “The Best of Plumb” record in 2000. She signed to Curb Records as a solo artist in 2003, releasing the album “Beautiful Lumps of Coal”. The lead single, called "Real", peaked at No. 41 in the UK Singles Chart.

Her album “Chaotic Resolve” entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart at No. 177 on March 9, 2006. "Better" reached No. 1 on the U.S. Christian airplay chart. The Bronleewe & Bose remix of her follow-up, "Cut", hit No. 1 on XM's dance hits channel BPM, and No. 5 on Billboard's Dance Charts Hot Dance Airplay.

Her third solo album, Blink, was released on October 9, 2007. "In My Arms", the first single from the album, was remixed by Kaskade, Scotty K, Bronleewe & Bose, Gomi, and Bimbo Jones and reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Dance Charts.

On May 19, 2009, she announced that she was recording a new album titled Beautiful History due out later in the year. The first single from Beautiful History, "Hang On", reached number one on US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play in 2009 and reached the top spot in Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart in 2010.

On December 20, 2012, she expressed a desire to rename her upcoming album from Faster Than a Bulletto Need You Now in honor of the victims and families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Withnailus

About: Withnailus

I've been making music for many years now and, over these years, I've found my own style. I know I'll never sell millions - to be honest it's never been about that. I love what I do, it's my passion in life, and it keeps one relatively sane. Don't get me wrong, if I could make a living from it, I wouldn't say no. My big dream has always been to make one album like a "Dark side of the moon" and then disappear to a life of royalties and rumours.

Dan Grigor

About: Dan Grigor

Dan Grigor, a 12-string virtuoso, has been playing guitar for more than 45 years. This season of his life has brought a new twist to his music. Tapping out melodies on the fret board with the right hand while chording with the left is a popular electric guitar technique. When taken to the acoustic 12-string, it requires an additional level of skill and talent, but as the finger ballet unfolds, it brings about a delightfully visual listening experience.

Refreshingly smart poetry accompanies the music and touches places in our hearts, our minds and our middles. Known for his wordplay and lyrical vocabulary, Grigor creates songs that say with few words the things we all feel. Then there’s the voice, the full, rich D-below-middle-C, back-of-the-room voice of experience. A voice familiar with love and life as well as pain and loss, the poetry articulates the beating of our hearts.

If you get a chance to see a live show, do it. The funny and incredibly talented Grigor entertains us by being himself. You feel as if you’ve made a new friend, or found an old one.

A prolific singer/songwriter, Dan Grigor has recently teamed with talented percussionist Ric Tortorete and bassist Mike Mountain for a captivating blues fusion experience. They are comfortable playing acoustic to provide captivating "small stage" entertainment guaranteed to make a dining experience or reception a truly special occasion, or plugging in and cranking it up to get feet tapping. Call For Info keeps the guests smiling and the glasses clinking without clashing with the flow of the environment, whether casual and boisterous or sophisticated fine dining.

Grigor has played and recorded with rock stars and for films and documentaries. He appears on several CDs including his own "Floating," available on his website, www.dangrigor.com.

Dan prefers Larrivee guitars, John Pearse strings and is also sponsored by and endorses JHAudio, Mey Chair Systems, and G7th Capo Company.

Dan also serves as the Publisher, Senior Writer and Videographer for BareFootMusicNews.com and its sister publications

Heidi Browne

About: Heidi Browne

“BBC 6Music’s Tom Robinson has described ‘G.I.R.L.F.R.I.E.N.D’ as “a masterclass” in how to tell[…] a story - straight and direct, person to person, heart to heart.” FolkCast describes her music as “summery, sweet-n-sour, soulful and full of sass!”
Currently recording her second album, self-made woman and Oxford drop-out Heidi speaks three languages and plays several instruments. Her songs are ‘a string of pearls to the ears, nothing less!’ - Tom Robinson, 6Music

‘Based in Market Drayton, Heidi Emma Peach Brownehas been writing and gigging for ten years. Creativity and performance chops are like muscles – the more you use them, the stronger they get. People didn’t place this track in their favourite five because of its hifi production values or glossy arrangement; they loved it because the writing is sharp and direct and the vocal performance is absolutely f*cking immaculate. When most of us get up with a guitar to sing, we tend to concentrate on the playing and throw away the vocal into a nearby microphone almost as an afterthought. Whereas what the audience wants to hear is somebody telling them a story – straight and direct, person to person, heart to heart. Girlfriend is a masterclass in how to do just that – in a radiofriendly 2’39″ flat. Will we be including her on the BBC Introducing Mixtape next month? Damn straight.’ - Ruth Barnes, Amazing Radio

Steve Morin & The Higgs Boson Project

About: Steve Morin & The Higgs Boson Project

The Higgs Boson. A title not frequently heard of or talked about amongst the masses. The search for "Dark Matter" and "Dark Energy" that make up more than 96% of our universe. It is the undiscovered particle thought to give matter mass. The God Particle! It is also the name I've chosen for this musical endeavor.Thank you for taking the time to visit and I hope you enjoy your stay! About the Guitar....I borrow these lyrics from the song Discovery,by Rush. "Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in my hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful" ... ... "I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound differently. As I struck the wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds, and soon my own music! How different it could be from the music of the Temples! I can't wait to tell the priests about it! ..." What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it gives forth a sound. It's got wires that vibrate and give music. What can this thing be that I found? See how it sings like a sad heart. And joyously screams out its pain. Sounds that build high like a mountain. Or notes that fall gently like rain. I can't wait to share this new wonder. The people will all see its light. Let them all make their own music. The Priests praise my name on this night. Welcome to The Higgs Boson Project!

Johnny Duhan

About: Johnny Duhan

Johnny Duhan started his career as a fifteen year old front man with Granny’s Intentions, the most popular beat group in Ireland in the 60s. After rousing Dublin with their soul touch, they moved to London, were signed to the prestigious Deram label, enjoyed considerable success and disbanded before Johnny was twenty one. Johnny started writing folk songs, poetry and prose at this stage. In a career spanning 40 years, his greatest achievement is a quartet of epic albums - Just Another Town, To The Light, The Voyage and Flame - which correspond to the four chapters of his lyrical autobiography, TO THE LIGHT. Johnny’s songs are sung worldwide in a variety of languages, thanks to the focus put on them by Christy Moore, The Dubliners, Mary Black and hosts of other Irish and international singers. His song The Voyage has become a modern classic. Christy Moore has termed Johnny “One of our greatest songwriters.” And the late Ronnie Drew described him as “one of my favourite songwriters.” A new album, The Burning Word, has just been released.

Johnny’s journey is set out in a series of albums that portray his life - his Limerick boyhood in JUST ANOTHER TOWN; his tilt for fame and the girl in TO THE LIGHT; his reflections on family life in THE VOYAGE; and his spiritual quest in FLAME. Johnny lives in Barna, Galway.
